Un tour tra gli ulivi, i castelli e le antiche pievi. A tour among olive trees, castles and ancient churches.

Un tour speciale pensato per gli ospiti dell’agriturismo San Jacopo a Reggello ma disponibile per tutti quelli che avranno voglia di scoprire luoghi e storie nascoste di questo bellissimo territorio.

Si parte dalla frazione di San Lorenzo percorrendo un breve tratto di strada asfaltata che ci permette di ammirare la campagna. Il tratto di asfalto arriva fino alla frazione di Cancelli che una volta superata, ci introduce nel cuore del territorio famoso per la coltivazione degli ulivi e la produzione dell’Olio Extra Vergine di oliva.

A special tour designed for the guests of Agriturismo San Jacopo in Reggello but available for all those who would like to discover hidden places and stories of this beautiful area.

We start from the hamlet of San Lorenzo along a short stretch of paved road that allows us to admire the countryside. The paved stretch reaches Cancelli, and this hamlet introduces us to the heart of the territory famous for the cultivation of olive trees and the production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

La strada che ci si presenta davanti è perlopiù non asfaltata e per brevi tratti si percorre un sentiero tra l’erba e i campi. E’ facile godersi il paesaggio e riposarsi all’ombra di alberi secolari. In questo primo tratto si ammira la campagna e si capisce perché la Toscana è famosa in tutto il mondo.

The road in front of us is mostly unpaved and for short stretches we follow a path through grass and fields. It is easy to enjoy the scenery and rest in the shade of centuries-old trees. In this first part, we can admire the countryside and understand why Tuscany is so famous all over the world.

La nosta destinazione intermedia è la bellissima Pieve di San Pietro a Pitiana , gioiello non solo storico ma anche paesaggistico. Per raggiungerla si passa attraverso la località di San Donato in Fronzano dove, nella piccola piazzetta della frazione, potrete trovare un fontanello e un bar dove rifocillarvi nei caldi pomeriggi estivi. Raggiunta la Pieve, dalla terrazza monumentale potrete ammirare la vista mozzafiato sull’intera vallata.

Our intermediate destination is the beautiful Pieve di San Pietro a Pitiana, a jewel not only of history but also of landscape. We reach it through the village of San Donato in Fronzano where, in the hamlet’s small square, there are a drinking fountain and a bar where you can refresh yourself on hot summer afternoons. When you reach the Pieve, you can admire the breathtaking view of the entire valley from the monumental terrace.

Ripartendo dalla Pieve si percorre un breve tratto in salita per poi ricongiungersi ad un sentiero che ci regala una visuale dall’alto di tutta la valle dell’Arno. In alcuni tratti dovremo transitare con la bicicletta su un piccolo torrente.

Leaving the Pieve, we cycle along a short uphill stretch and then rejoin a path that gives us a view from above of the entire Arno valley. In some sections we will have to ride our bikes over a small stream.

Se non ve la sentite di affrontarlo in sella, niente paura, è davvero un brevissimo tratto. Il Tour prosegue poi in direzione di un altro magnifico luogo da vedere, il Castello dei Bonsi.

If you do not feel up to tackling it in the saddle, don’t worry, it is really a very short stretch. The tour then continues in the direction of another magnificent place to see, the Bonsi Castle.

Questo tour vuole essere un piccolo assaggio di tutte le bellezze che potete visitare nelle campagne reggellesi. Poco dopo il Castello dei Bonsi arriverete ad un bivio per proseguire verso la frazione di Pietrapiana. Prima di imboccare la strada, al bivio, potrete ammirare proprio davanti a voi la Chiesa di S. Agata in Arfoli, esempio di architettura medioevale con un incredibile scorcio sul fondovalle.

Altro piccolo gioiello sul nostro percorso è l’antico mulino di Pietrapiana, testimonianza di un’epoca in cui la vita scorreva lentamente ed i cicli della natura erano fondamentali.

This tour is meant to give you a little taste of all the beauty you can visit in the countryside of Reggello. Shortly after Bonsi Castle you will come to a fork in the road to continue to the hamlet of Pietrapiana.
Before turning onto the road at the fork, you can admire right in front of you the Church of S. Agata in Arfoli, another example of medieval architecture with another incredible view of the valley below.

Another little gem on our route is the ancient Pietrapiana mill, evidence of a time when life flowed slowly and the cycles of nature were fundamental.

Il tour si conclude nel capoluogo di Reggello per un’ultima sosta prima di un meritato spuntino nei locali del paese. La passeggiata tra gli ulivi è semplice, 26 km con poco dislivello ed adatta a tutti. Buon divertimento!

The tour ends in the main town of Reggello for a final stop before a well-deserved snack in the town’s bars and cafes. The walk among the olive trees is simple, 26 km with little elevation difference and suitable for everyone. Enjoy!
